WOW, what a wonderful video.  It is so very true that we are overwhelmingly critical of ourselves!

Comment by GIna Greene on April 18, 2013 at 11:08am

I saw this video a few days ago and it blew my mind. So sad at how we perceive ourselves which tends to be quite different than what others see. Where does that start? Comparison? Marketing (i.e..."you have ____________ and you shouldn't, so use our product so you don't...")? Small comments from others that we take to define ourselves. I wish we could see ourselves as others see us.

The hardest 'friend' I've ever had to learn to appreciate has been my own mirror. I have looked into a mirror and tried to talk to the person who is there and as if that person was someone I wanted to have as my best friend too. Its a very difficult and challenging practice, and one that ought not be all that tough, but oh my it IS. Lots of ingrained NON self acceptance in our lives.

I also was a part of an exercise at another group which was interesting and illuminating. Those members who wanted to participate posted pictures of themselves and then other members could post remarks about how they 'viewed' that picture. The picture poster always zeroed in on negatives that the others never noticed and the remarks where generally positive too.

My one year later!

Hello, everyone!  I want to share my one-year-later and everything that led up to that.  My hope is that my progress and hope for the future helps those who are new to IE or who are in the middle of their journey. Background:  I was sucked into dieting when I was a teenager because I hated feeling fat.  I really wasn't fat, but that's what society told me.  I started weight watchers about 10 years ago and joined the gym. I lost weight slowly but steadily.  I was at a healthier weight for a…See More

Eeza replied to Heather's discussion Feeling Fullness vs the Diet Rebel
"I second what Alexandrina said!  It takes your body some time to let your brain know you're full, so it's best to eat until you're no longer hungry.  For me, after about 15 or 20 minutes I begin to feel full. "
