Quite a few of my friends use colouring books as a form of stress relief and I've been quite skeptical but I think I should try it myself as I loved colouring as a child. I too enjoy sewing, either making clothes or taking old…"
"Kaytea, its been one of my observations that making one's IE efforts as FUN as possible does enhance an IE journey. Diet mentality hammers 'right/wrong' at us which is anything but fun. Returning to finding joy in eating and…"
It's so hard to just accept where our body wants to be because we are raised to know that we can do anything in life and be anyone we want to be.
You mentioned following some fit IE people on IG. I just wanted to comment that I…"
This is how I deal with the Gentle Nutrition. I read the chapter and so I know generally what it's about. From there, I treat myself like a science experiment. Do experiment (eat various things), make observations (you could call this…"
Hi all, I'm sharing here an idea I'm going to experiment with to hopefully recruit some of you into participating, as I would love to hear your feedback since you all are familiar with IE already. I'm a holistic health counselor and have really changed my path now that I've learned about IE. I've been collaborating with a local women who does Equine Assisted Learning and we've been trying to blend our work together into different workshops/retreats, etc. Getting people to read the book, ask me…See More
"Just seeing this discussion now and thank you all who have commented. I'm starting to understand that it's all about figuring yourself out and what works for you. I attended one of Geneen Roth's retreats and they suggest eating to a…"
"I do think that it's very difficult to Feel Your Fullness without figuring out satisfaction. I've noticed other new IErs, especially those trying to do IE perfectly and turning it into another diet, trying to stop at an arbitrary…"
"Thanks, guys--I know we've gotten a little off track with the subject of this original post, but I do find that having other methods of bringing joy into my life, especially when going through difficult times or stress, is really useful. …"
"I'm not sure how much this will help. But after I finished the book, I found it kind of difficult to just do one principle at a time because I had all of the information. I actually think it's helpful to keep the whole process in mind…"
"I agree that these are opposing philosophies. I did WW for years, so I know how much diet mentality goes into WW. IE is the complete opposite. I'm curious as to your friend's thought process about this. Maybe she…"
"Mary, the concept of INternal (one's own body) vs. EXternal (not body directions) seems to be a big understanding to know and apply for those switching for diet mentality to IE have to grasp and accept too. IE really takes a bit of a leap of…"
I lent my friend my IE book, which she read. She said she is going to sign up for WW and plans to do WW and IE simultaneously. I told her it is not possible to do them simultaneously, considering that the first IE principle is to get rid of diet mentality. I also talked about the principle of honoring your hunger. How can you do that if you've used up your points for the day? WW is an external locus of control. IE is an internal locus of control.See More
